MaMaMedia was a short but pivotal period in my career. The site was designed to encourage children to use the Internet, starting at a young age, for playful, expressive, and active learning-not just for searching and finding information. The work environment was perhaps the most vibrant and enthusiastic I have ever encountered. It was there that I really began to take my painting and drawing skills and apply them to digital media. I had done some work in that venue before but, once I saw what could be done when collaborating with software engineers, I never looked back.
It was unfortunate that the dot com bust of 2000 cut my time there short but so much of what I learned there about creative collaboration will stay with me forever.
Below are some of the illustrations and animations that made it into a number of their site features.
