Professional Experience

Summary of my skillset

Currently working as an Associate for Booz Allen Hamilton, I’m revamping the online training materials for an electronic health record application called the Joint Legacy Viewer as part of a larger program to modernize the electronic health records for active duty military and veterans. Using my User Experience Design background to determine the most appropriate training materials and the most convenient means to access them. Over the 10+ years prior to that, I had been designing a intuitive and engaging user experiences into software utilized by the intelligence community. Working on problems such as presenting as critical data without causing a cognitive overload, alerting users to important new data without agitating them, exposing features in an intuitive way that minimizes the need to read a software manual. I’ve enjoyed working directly with clients and engineers using agile and user experience design practices to come up with optimized solutions to the client’s needs. I am adept at paper prototyping as well as working up rapid prototypes in Bootstrap, Foundation, and/or AngularJS in order to get the feedback loop started as quickly as possible. I can conduct user tests that shed light on otherwise undetected problems and then collaborate with stakeholders to develop solid solutions. I always look forward to meeting a new challenge.

A little back story about my employment from 2003  to 2017

In September of 2003 I started working as a consultant for a company named Skarven Enterprises, Inc. The company produced software for the intelligence community and I was brought in to add some polish to their UI work. In 2005, I was hired on full time and in 2008 Skarven was purchased by Boeing along with it’s sister company, Kestrel. Then in 2016, Boeing spun off our offices with the rest of it’s intelligence services into a wholly owned subsidiary called Boeing Intelligence & Analytics.
